When should you visit an orthodontist?

On such a long hot day, you may find yourself in need of a refreshing refreshment to help you cope with the heat. Experiencing a sharp discomfort through your teeth after taking a piece or taste of a cool delicacy is less typical. We're not talking about a case of the flu–we're talking about such a case of sensitive teeth!

Hot or cold environments, sweet or sour meals, and drinks, or severe cavities & fillings can all cause tooth sensitivity. Because of the high porosity of dentin, sensitivity develops as the protective coating of porcelain on the teeth wears down, exposing the pulpal layer of your teeth that Orthodontist Valencia can treat.

Common causes -

Acidified foods and drinks can erode your enamel, making your teeth more susceptible to erosion. After that, wash your mouth with liquid & clean your teeth at least 1 hour after eating a meal.

Poor dental hygiene practices, whilst not brushing or flossing regularly, can cause plaque and germs to build up and tear down the enamel on your teeth, weakening enamel & making patients more prone to sensitivity. Tooth hypersensitivity is often caused by over-brushing, since a harsh bristle brush or a forceful hand can wear away your enamel & expose porous surfaces, causing your tooth's fibers to become more sensitive.

Tooth sensitivity and its treatment -

Your treatment will be determined by the severity of your condition. If you're in pain from an orthodontic modification, you can take an over-the-counter painkiller to help you feel better until the discomfort goes away.

Switching brushes & brushing techniques can bring a great amount of comfort for those whose hypersensitivity is related to poor hygiene habits–a soft-bristle toothbrush will help keep your teeth healthy without hurting the porcelain or gums. Using toothpaste made specifically for people with teeth and gums can also help.

After a few weeks of regular use, patients should see an improvement. If your hypersensitivity is extreme & lasts for many days, we may urge that you come in for a checkup to check out tumors or even other dental issues that could be causing your gum disease.

Sensitive teeth & orthodontics -

You may have gum disease when getting orthodontic work. Braces are used to gradually push your teeth towards alignment during therapy, and some sensitivity & discomfort may occur following an adjustment. Thankfully, this is very transient and should only last another day or two after your visit.

Consult the Santa Clarita Orthodontist if your teeth are sensitive for a long time or regularly. We'll be able to propose additional treatment or suggest that you make an appointment with a doctor to explore your alternatives.

Cleaning from around brackets, Braces Valencia, & wires as well as flossing will assist to decrease plaque buildup, which can degrade over time enamel & contribute to teeth and gums. For people with severely sensitive teeth, Valencia Braces may be a solution based on your situation. This transparent aligner is less likely to irritate your teeth and is easier to clean.

Sensitive teeth should not prohibit you from moving forward in life or from undergoing orthodontics.
